New – Supporting Memberships

Long before any code was written for Nation of Neighbors we agonized over the best way to fund it.  We considered a wide variety of business models for Nation of Neighbors – advertising, seeking private donors or sponsors, applying for grants, charging for service and functioning as a for-profit company…  Ultimately, we decided it was in the best interest of our mission – and our members – to try to run Nation of Neighbors as a non-profit.  We will offer our service for free – and hope that those who find it useful will contribute to help us keep it going and to improve and expand.

As of today members can opt to become supporting members.  As a token of our appreciation, we will highlight your status as a supporter on posts that you add to your Community Group.  Supporting members can also save up to 10 locations and create multiple alerts, letting you interact with more communities where you have an interest or spend time.  We have more features planned for supporting members as well, including offering a 10% discount on Neighborhood Watch signs and other goodies once we actually have them finalized and for sale.
