Riverside
Fulton County, GA
Riverside is a community in Northwest Atlanta, located along the Chattahoochee River. It is bordered by James Jackson Parkway to the west, the Chattahoochee River & the Georgia Power easement to the north, and the railroad tracks which form the border to the east and to the south.
The community was founded on two parcels of land, owned by Obadiah Thompson and James W. Spink who lived in the area in the mid 1800’s. Spink married Thompson's daughter, Elizabeth, bringing the family properties together into what would become known as the Spink Estate. Elizabeth survived her husband, dying in 1910. The property was then sold off as “300 lots and 20 small farms” in 1917, forming the beginnings of what would become the Riverside community.
